This is my mom’s classic frosting recipe. It is four total ingredients. This works well with any chocolate or vanilla boxed cake; it really takes them up a notch.
–Take a half stick of butter out of the fridge and let it warm to room temperature. Put in a mixing bowl, ideally of an electric mixer
–Add 1.5 c of powdered sugar, 1/2 c of fresh coffee (strong, black), and 1/2 c of dark, unsweetened cocoa. Mix.
–Taste for flavor and texture: should be chocolatey and sweet, but not overly sweet. There should be enough coffee to hold it together.
–Add more powdered sugar, coffee, or cocoa until the frosting is dark, rich, and of a spreadable consistency.
–Frost and enjoy!

Best. Cake. Ever.
